SunPro Mangus Shares His Best Sunburn Prevention Advice
Outdoor sports and sunshine go hand-in-hand—but too much sun can turn a great day into a painful one. We asked SunPro Mangus, longtime sun-enjoyer and certified outdoor person, for his top three sunburn prevention tips. Here’s what he had to say:
“Most people wait until they’re already outside to apply sunscreen,” Mangus warns. “You need at least 15 minutes for it to absorb before sun exposure—and reapply every two hours, especially if you’re sweating.”
“Don’t underestimate a good hat and long sleeves,” says Mangus. “Lightweight, UPF-rated clothing actually keeps you cooler and protected.” Bonus: no need to constantly reapply on covered areas.
“Ears, nose, back of the neck, and tops of the feet—these get missed all the time,” Mangus notes. “Use a zinc-based stick for these areas. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself later.” Stay sun-smart and enjoy the trail—because a burn shouldn’t be your souvenir. Got your own sun-care secrets?
